As many of you are aware St Albans Hockey Club is primarily run by individuals that freely give their time – volunteers. We are actively seeking support in a number of key roles and will be publishing more about how members can help with the successful running of our club. A huge thank you to those that have recently stepped forward and offered their services.
Club Secretary
Are you someone that is organised and enjoys organising others? The role will include attending all club meetings and producing minutes in a timely manner. Ideally the individual will also perform the role of Company Secretary, however this is not essential. This really is a key role to help support the smooth running of the club and although you will be required to attend set meetings all other work can be in your own time to suit you.
Women's Club Captain and Vice Club Captain
The key responsibilities of the roles include:
- Supporting each of the women’s team captains
- Overseeing the selection process throughout the season with weekly communications with team captains
- Responding to all new membership enquiries and ensuring that all new members have a positive experience at their new club
- Be available to players to listen to their comments and suggestions
Kit Volunteers Needed
To ensure our kit is managed efficiently, we do need some additional support. We have split the roles in to small tasks which should ensure that none of them are too onerous. If you can contribute a small amount of time to supporting the kit provision, we would very much appreciate it.
Ad hoc Kit Distributors
To support the smooth distribution of the kit we are seeking volunteers who can be available during the weekends to distribute the kit orders. This will only be a few hours and only during the weekend when the kit delivery has been made. It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow members of the club and to support us with distribution of kit. We will set up a WhatsApp group and communicate when the kit delivery has arrived and ask for volunteers for the forthcoming weekend.
Ideally, we would appreciate a Kit Coordinator to manage the communication process.
Kit Designs Committee
We are seeking representatives from the Men’s, Women’s and Youth sections to review the exciting new designs for off-pitch kit that Tsunami have provided us for this season and to agree the final designs that we should be offering as part of our kit provision.
We would like to meet prior to the kit window opening on Friday 5 th August. Please remember, all new kit has a minimum order quantity. If we do not have enough orders for a new item of kit, we will not be able to manufacture it.
Kit Manager
We would like to appoint a volunteer to manage the relationship with Tsunami. This will include dealing with any ad hoc queries from members as well as liaising with Tsunami regarding new stock items and bulk orders.
