4. Becoming a Youth Partner

Our Youth Partners are people who are willing to help us raise some extra funding for our youth hockey initiatives. We hope this will be especially appealing to many parents of Youth Members and of our younger Playing Members. To become a Youth Partner involves signing up to a gift of £9 per month (or a single annual payment of £108), preferably gift-aided.

We will account separately as to the use of the revenue raised from our Youth Partners and report as to how we are using it. We need and will use this revenue for things like:

  • special youth coaching sessions
  • masterclasses led by international players and guest coaches
  • seed-funding for holiday hockey camps
  • new youth hockey initiatives in conjunction with Oaklands College
  • hosted events such as hockey games at Oaklands for our local schools
  • taking hockey into local schools and colleges
  • setting up level 1 coaching and umpiring courses for youth players
  • ball-patrol uniforms
  • additional youth equipment
  • summer youth hockey
  • youth indoor hockey hall hire
  • youth trips to see international and elite-level hockey

Our pledge to our Youth Hockey Partners is that they will receive (if they wish):

  • regular information from the club about hockey activities
  • named recognition in the Oaklands clubroom, on the club’s website and in the club handbook
  • email report as to how revenue was spent on youth initiatives
  • invitation to special youth events and to present awards

“Nothing is more important to us as coaches and our Club than the young players who train, play and represent the Club at either youth level or in our adult development teams. Thank you to everyone for supporting this!”
Malcolm Emmerson & Pippa Martin, Youth & Junior Coach Leaders, 2014.

“I am really excited to be organising the youth hockey camps at St Albans. These camps are a great way for young people to improve their individual hockey skills, as well as meeting new people and making new friends. As a junior I spent most of my school holidays on hockey camps which gave me extra time to hone my basic technical skills and enjoy having a great time with my friends.”
Ellie Watton, England & GB; SAHC Hockey Development Officer, 2014
